Animation Sophomore – 2026

Thomas Barling is a sophomore animation major that comes from the city of Normal, Illinois. He enjoys animating in both 2D and 3D, but usually prefers 3D. He would really love to improve his skills in animating characters specifically. He hopes to one day make an animated series to entertain and inspire others to do the same. In his free time, he mainly likes to play video games and watch YouTube. He can regularly be seen in campus clubs like Card Game Club and Fighting Game Club.

Animator on Creature Cafe

Creature Cafe is a short film about the tired and cautious Dani and the optimistic and kind Puffi. These two struggling bakers needing to make ends meet get a late call from a mysterious customer, asking them to deliver a cake to their bakery’s basement. Of course they’re going to take that opportunity, it’s not like they have anything better to do. What could possibly go wrong?
