About Me

I am a Game Design Major with one Minor in Creative Writing and another in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. I specialize in Sound Design and eventually want to take making music for video games into a full-time pursuit. Storytelling is what I like most about games; from their writing, design, implementation of sound and art, all the way to the marketing, a game is telling a story, and sharing them with people is one of the best things in life. I have an album out on Bandcamp and would love for you to take a listen: https://jakehyland1.bandcamp.com/releases

Gotta Hand IT to Ya'

Gotta Hand IT to Ya'

I created a card game for IM 288 in 2018. The basis of the game was attempting to keep hold of a single card until the deck runs out, stealing this "mythical treasure" away from other players.

Grey Hills Logo

Grey Hills Logo

I created this logo for the purposes of advertising my brand as a Sound Designer. You can see this logo on my portfolio website and on most of my social media. The basis of the design is focused on a Waveform from my first published song.

Guiding the Player

Guiding the Player

I made an album, cover to cover. I composed, mixed, and mastered all of the tracks as well as created the cover art, depicted here.

Match-Ride Rescue is a side-scrolling arcade game. You play as an insect rescue ranger named Wick and bravely pilot a tiny match-powered hot-air balloon. Your goal is to save other bugs from a flood. You adventure through a forest, avoiding thorns, water droplets, and other obstacles. You must conserve the balloon's fuel to successfully traverse the landscape, collecting matches to refuel. Drifting above pools of water and riding through gusts of wind, you must save all the bugs you can and deliver them to safety.
