Jakob Plotts
Interactive Media Anticipated Graduation Date: May 2019
About Me
I'm Jakob Plotts and I am a senior in User Experience Design who aims to improve the lives of many by taking part in influential industries such as health care and commerce in order to develop innovative design solutions to solve complex problems.
I produced work for many local communities throughout central Illinois and even unveiled work in various exhibitions such as FUSE held by the highly regarded Interactive Media Department at Bradley University (Peoria, IL) and the 2015 Illinois Community College Juried Exhibition, at Governors State University (Chicago, IL). Currently, I am working to obtain my Bachelors degree in User Experience Design while leading many relevant projects and volunteer work along the way.
Whether it be user experience/user interface design, art, or programming, no medium is uninteresting or too far out for me. I am very much passionate for art and creativity but also in favor of a critical and technical outlook on the world. Upon graduating, I hope to further my personal education and career in design, the arts, and science/programming in order to make an impact on the visual and interactive world that truly makes a difference!
Featured Projects
Dragon On The Spot
A digital art piece of mine that I completed over winter break of 2018-2019. It consists of a portrait of a cautious yet intelligent dragon over a spotted backdrop. It won the January 2019 challenge for Digital Arts Club at Bradley University and became a popular piece once submitted online.
Retro First Person Shooter
A game I developed using Unity and a variety of custom and royalty free assets. It was crafted from scratch as a retro style first person shooter where the player is trapped in a map and must survive hordes of enemies. I programmed swarm intelligence AI and toon shaders myself.
All News App Prototype
A prototype I designed for an advanced user experience design course. The purpose of the app was to provide unbiased news in a fun, creative way. I performed user research and iterated on designs to develop an effective interactive prototype that could be taken into development.
