My name is Todd Horwitch, and I am a Junior Animation major. I'm 21 years old and I hail from Buffalo Grove, Illinois which is a suburb of Chicago. I enjoy playing video games, doing card tricks, and drawing in my spare time. My favorite TV show is Burn Notice and my favorite song is Just Jammin' by Gramatik. One interesting thing about me is that I'm a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. A lot of my life and favorite things go into my character concepts, such as the stage magician duo, Specks and Dicehead, which will be featured in my senior year animation capstone project. To accomplish this, something I've recently taken up is 3D modelling and it has blown me away how fun it is. I plan to have all of my own characters 3D modelled by the time I graduate. I look to see if I can create concepts, artwork, and assets for film and video game companies such as Riot Games and Blizzard. Ever since i discovered the game League of Legends, it's been a dream to work for Riot Games. Their narrative work and character design is the best in the industry and the work environment has been said to be excellent.
This was an animation made to test After Effect's 2.5D animation capabilities. We told to use existing characters and use existing audio while creating effects of characters speaking without making them speak. For this assignment, the characters used are from League of Legends, Kindred and audio from Code MENT Abridged.
This was a solo project done as a commission. The commission was to create a splash art for the owner's original character, "Kapphi". The assignment was done with Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop. The commission took approximately a week to complete. The project was done with only brush work and no filters.
Nearly in completion, this is a model of the original character Specks, the Spectacular. This character is to be used in future 3D animations in Maya and Cinema4D for Animation for Games and 3D Animation II classes. The model is created in zBrush and has taken approximately a week to create.
