About Me

My name is Justin Hanen. I am currently a junior at Bradley University majoring in Interactive Media with a minor in Social Media Marketing. I am passionate about using innovation to express my creativity. I enjoy using various media to allow my ideas to come to life. I have been enhancing my abilities and building my design skill set at Bradley. Within the Interactive Media major, I have enrolled in classes to further my understanding of design basics when creating websites, applications, games, and other projects. The program has taught me how to best utilize programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Affects, and Audition. I have also completed a 2-Dimensional art class to learn basic drawing concepts and technics.

In my free time I enjoy listening to music, attending music festivals and concerts, and playing lacrosse. I am also involved in Bradley's Greek life. As a member of the Delta Rho chapter of Sigma Chi, I have had the opportunity to participate in Service on Saturday service projects that give back to our community such as supporting the annual Festival of Trees.

For my 2-Dimensional art final I wanted to design a painting that many would be enjoyed for years to come. I selected the DJ Booth in the basement in my fraternity as the perfect location. I used Photoshop to design and then sketched out and painted it all by hand.

Alex the Alien

For my second project I made a 2-Dimensional arcade game built in Stencyl. I learned how to code all of the movements and actions in the game. The game was comprised of all original artwork. I utilized Illustrator and Photoshop to bring Alex the Alien to life in my game.

First Person Puzzel Game

For my last project I created a first person puzzle game in unity. I learned how to design multiple levels and code the different functions for the player. I was able to uses pictures I took to create the textures in the game.

Tom’s Treasure Trove is an interactive scavenger hunt - players use a tablet or smartphone to interact with virtual objects in real space. This augmented reality experience begins as the game’s mascot Tom the Pirate instructs the player to collect as many coins and gems as they can by roaming around the playing area. Using physical images to map 3D objects, players will search for 3D models using the device’s camera. Once found, the player may tap the object to collect it. After time is up, players return to the starting area to get their score and claim their prize.
