Hi, my name is Jake Velicer, and I am an aspiring game designer extremely interested in creating passionate storytelling experiences for it is those types of games that drove me to this major in the first place. I’ve always had fun letting stories impact me on an emotional level and video games allow me to take the driver seat when it comes to experiences like that.
I chose Bradley University as it’s program is a good fit for me and my learning style. I have had great experiences here so far and am learning new things as a creative everyday. I have learned programs from the Adobe creative suite to the Unity game engine which are all extremely relevant to the industry. It’s a fun place to be.
My ultimate career goal is to be a part of making impactive, interactive storytelling experiences via it be through video games, movies, VR, 360 video, or any other mediums that come about. I want be apart of projects that make people feel.
The Long Hall was a project that I started in my Game Production 1 class that I am continuing to iterate upon. The assignment was to come up with an interesting core mechanic and build it. I am now taking the game further by adding additional mechanics and a narrative.
Infeccc is a top down shoot 'em up. You play as a an alien drone tasked with infecting other humans while avoiding the CDC. We developed it at the 2018 Global Jam in January. I was a programmer mainly responsible for random tile generation, random sprite selection, and various colliders.
