Hi my name is David Matias. I am studying to be a Game Designer/Developer at Bradley University. I always enjoyed playing video games growing up and I have always been interested in how digital games were created. When I have free time I enjoy playing games such as Destiny, Overwatch, and Dark Souls. When I am not playing games, I like to work on prototyping ideas and designing level layouts on paper. I have worked with multiple game engines such as Unreal, Unity, and GameMaker. I have experience with C# and C++ programming, UI design, and sound design. I am currently working within Unity on multiple projects as part of my game production coursework at Bradley. The projects that I am working on this semester include an Augmented Reality card game where players can see a 3D model on top of the physical cards that are in play. In another project, I have assumed the role as a programmer for the catapult game "RaceTrek". RaceTrek is a 2D rocket race game where players control their own customized rockets to race against other players in space. This game is my catapult project for FUSE. I am one of the programmers for the project working on developing game mechanics and network functionality. In this game players will be able to control their own customizable rocket ship and race against other ships in space. Players will be able to swap out parts of their ship to adjust the speed and turning capabilities of their rocket.
While studying at the College of DuPage I worked with a team of other students to create a "Jackass" styled cinematic in Unreal. The main character starts out in a shopping cart and is pulled along the track by a car that eventually jumps through a flaming donut shaped ring in the sky. I was in charge of camera tracking in the scene, sound design, and the creation of the particle effect used in the ring of fire.
Geomancers is a two-player Augmented Reality board game that I am currently working on in one of my game production classes. The main goal of Geomancers is to destroy the other wizards castle before the other wizard destroys yours. Both players will be able to cast spells and place environment obstacles on the augmented game map to slow down the opponents wizard. I worked on the sound design, inventing some of the spell effects, and helped program the functionality for a few of the spells. Geomancers is currently being developed for Android devices.
