About Me

My name is Courtney Fancil and I am a freshman double major in game design and English with a concentration in creative writing. I've enjoyed reading, writing, and playing games since I was a little kid. One day, I would like to create stories that others would enjoy as well. I'd like to write the narratives for games as well as write books on the side. I think that I would one day like to work at an Indie studio over a AAA studio because the teams are smaller and I enjoy working in smaller groups rather than larger ones. I'd like to write horror, fantasy, and dystopian novels one day. I write all the time - for games, fictional stories, and everyday in a journal I keep. I've also recently found out that I sleep write if I fall asleep with a writing utensil in my hand. I'm hoping that my double major will help me get into writing for games sooner.

Featured Projects

Blackjack Game

Blackjack Game

It was a partner project that involved coding a blackjack game for others to play. We worked in pairs and both of us shared an equal amount of work on the code that we wrote. It was the first major project of the semester for my coding class.

Bouncing Balls Project

Bouncing Balls Project

It was a single project making five balls bounce. Every time the balls bounce, they change colors and their speed is displayed on the screen. The balls all bounce at different speeds and they are all different sizes as well. It was the first major coding project of the semester that we had to do alone.

Creature Command

Creature Command

Creature Command is the project for FUSE. I've worked mainly on the spreadsheet to create balance and different mechanics in the game. The spreadsheet generates different numbers and chances for a critical hit every time the spreadsheet page is refreshed. It's been an interesting project and the first one I've worked on with such a large group of people.

Choose “elemental” creatures to battle your friends on the Amazon Echo. In Creature Command, you control creatures with your voice. There are two aspects in each elemental, so pick the mix that matches well with you. This turn-based game is fun for the whole family. Stop by and visit our cast of elementals at Fuse!
