About Me

Hi, I'm Ben Panfil. I am a sophomore from Traer, Iowa with a major in Animation and a minor in Computer Science. When I graduate I would like to get a job where I can use my creative talents to help make a difference in the world. I feel like art has a way of bringing people together and enriching everyone's lives, so I would like to contribute to that. In my free time I enjoy drawing, playing guitar and piano, playing basketball, eating good food, volunteering, listening to music, and playing games.

Too Late

Too Late

This was my final project for 2D Animation 1, done with frame by frame hand drawn animation. It tells a dark story of someone who returns to their home planet to find that their species has been wiped out and they are alone.

Bees?

Bees?

This is an animation I made at the very end of my freshman year in my Drawing 2 class. The overall message is that bees are dying and have an uncertain future. Instead of having a set color palette this piece throws them all at you.

Creatabase is an interactive art gallery experience that allows users to create art and digitize their creations for upload to a database. The art is then selected from the database and projected. Motion tracking technology is then used to enable the user to interact with their art and body in a fully immersive way. This project creates an interactive experience enabling the users to both “create” and “participate in” their own art. Additionally, the exhibit raises awareness of correlations between traditional and “new” digital media in a way that demonstrates how technologies can bridge gaps between old and new.
