Canaan McCadd is a Game Design major from his hometown of Evergreen Park, Illinois, with a real passion for getting into the nitty-gritty of game systems, designing combat, and the art of weaving an interactive storyline. He’s super into crafting player experiences that are all about strategy, making meaningful choices, and getting dropped into a world that feels so real you can almost smell the dirt. Canaan has a whole arsenal of tools at his disposal: Unity, Godot, and C# to name a few, and he’s always looking to up his game by getting hands-on with new development projects and teaming up with other creatives.
One thing that really gets him going is designing the systems and figuring out how to get combat just right, how to make a game that’s tough enough to keep you on your toes but still feels satisfying when you finally figure out how to beat it. At the end of the day, Canaan’s goal is to continue learning and growing as a designer and to latch onto projects that make players say, “That was so cool, I want to play more.”
